young driversInsurance cover for a Peugeot 106 is over £400 cheaper than it’s rival, the Vauxhall Corsa, but young drivers tend to pick the costly Corsa regardless

Cheap Cars for Young Drivers

The Vauxhall Corsa is the most popular choice of vehicle for young drivers in the UK, but little do they know, if they picked a rival hatchback, they could be saving more money!

Young drivers aged 17-25 would pay £900 for fully comprehensive insurance on a Peugeot 107. On the other hand, if young drivers pick a Corsa, they’ll be paying around £1305.

However, something that will generally decrease the cost of your insurance is taking a pass plus course! The pass plus certificate usually cuts your insurance costs by 10-30% depending on your insurer!

The Peugeot having a smaller engine is the biggest reason why the premium is so low. It’s also cheaper buy, where a new 107 is around £6000, a new Vauxhall Corsa sells for around £9000.

However, research according to insurance quotes retrieved from Comparethemarket, has found that the Peugeot is not favourable among young drivers. Also among the less favourable, are the affordable Fiat 500, Citroën C1, Kia Picanto and Toyota Aygo. Where all of these cars can generally be insured more cheaply than the Vauxhall Corsa.

According to research data, the under 25 year old drivers prefer the Ford Fiesta (around £1266 to insure), Renault Clio (around £1248 to insure), Volkswagen Golf (around £1702) and Vauxhall Astra (around £1402).
