Setting up the Instructor Portal app
How to set up the Instructor Portal app once you have joined the driveJohnson's Franchise.
In this video, we'll show you how to go through the initial set up of our app for driving instructors, the Instructor Portal, once you have joined our driving school franchise.
When you join driveJohnson's, we will send you your login details for the app to the email address you gave us. Your password is usually your ADI or PRN number supplied by the DVSA, unless you are in training and haven't received one yet, in which case a random password will be generated for you.
To download and install the Instructor Portal app on an Android device, visit the Google Play Store and search for Instructor Portal'. The correct app will have the black background with 'dJ' in the centre and published by driveJohnson's. Open up Instructor Portal, then press the Install
button.
To download and install the Instructor Portal app on an iPhone, open up the App Store on your iPhone. Press the search button at the bottom of the screen, then search for Instructor Portal
in the box. Open up the result with the black square and 'dJ' icon, and press the download button - it looks like a cloud with an arrow pointing down. You might be asked to enter your iCloud password.
Once you have installed the Instructor Portal app, open it up. You will be shown a login screen to start with, and login with the details sent to you when you joined driveJohnson's.
When you login for the first time, there will be a carousel of useful tips for you to swipe through. Once you are happy to proceed, either press the Skip
button or the Let's get started
button.
You will be taken to your Dashboard
where you will see useful information such as how much of your profile you have completed, information about your trial and more.
A key thing to note here is that a lot of the features on the app will be locked until you upload proof of your address and a photo of your ADI badge. This is for identity and verification purposes.
The first thing you will need to do is sign your Franchise Agreement. To do this, tap the first button: Sign the Franchise Agreement
. Once you are happy and agree to the agreement, enter your signature into the box provided and tap Accept
. You can now go back to your Dashboard
. The list of to dos will now update on your Dashboard
, with the Franchise Agreement option removed.
Secondly, you'll need to upload proof of your address. The information required for this stage is your driving licence and a utility bill, so you'll need to have these to hand. Press the Upload proof of your address
button. To upload your driving licence, tap the Driving Licence
button. You will be asked if you want to take a photo or choose one from your phone's gallery. Once it has successfully uploaded, the Driving Licence button will change to a green tick.
Then, do the same for the Utility Bill
button, which once completed will also change to a green tick.
Once you have uploaded both, you may go back to the Dashboard
.
The next thing to complete is your Working Hours
. Setting your working hours lets the Bookings Team in the office know what days and hours you work so they know when to send you pupils for.
Press the Set up your working hours
button. Adjust the times so they are correct for each day. If you would like to mark a day as a day off, you can swipe it to the left to make it turn grey. Once you are happy, press the Save
button in the top right of your phone's screen, and go back to the Dashboard
.
Unfortunately, sometimes things happen where we are unable to communicate with you or we need to get hold of someone close to you. It is best to be prepared and have someone we can get in touch with in one of those 'just in case' situations. Therefore, and under advice from the DVSA Registrar, we ask for an emergency contact to be provided. To add an emergency contact, press the button which reads Supply us with emergency contact details
.
Press the Add new
button and enter your contact's details into the form. Ensure you enter their address and, most importantly, their phone number. Once they are added, you can return to the Dashboard
.
The final step to complete is uploading your ADI badge. Tap the Upload your ADI & Expiry Date
button. Once the screen loads, just like the proof of address section, press the Choose ADI Badge
button. You will be asked if you want to take a photo or choose an existing one from your phone's gallery. Once you have a photo selected, the Choose ADI Button
will be replaced by your photo. Please make sure the photo you upload is of the photo part of your ADI badge, clearly displaying your photo, ADI number and the expiry date.
Enter the expiry date of your badge, displayed on the bottom left-hand side of your badge, reading 'Valid until the last day of...'.
Now, when you return to your Dashboard
, your features will be unlocked and you are all set to receive pupils from the driveJohnson's Bookings Team.
