1. Downloading driveJohnson's Roads

You can download the driveJohnson's Roads app from Apple's App Store or from Google Play. You can find the links below:

App Store

Google Play

2. Logging in

When you sign up to the driveJohnson's Franchise, you receive a username and password by email that you can use to log in to our Instructor Portal app.

The log in details for Roads are the same as you would use to login to the Instructor Portal.

3. The Dashboard

The view you see when you first login to Roads is your "Dashboard". This is where you can see any previous scenes you have saved, if you have any outstanding unconfirmed pupils in your Instructor Portal app, change your settings and - most importantly - create new scenes.

4. Creating a scene

From the Dashboard, press the "Add a new scene" button, this will load up a new scenario for you.

To choose a road type for your scenario, you can tap the icon ( ) in the top right of the screen.

From the menu which appears, you can choose from a number of different road layouts, including roundabouts, T-junctions and more.

You can add items such as cars, pedestrians, road signs, traffic lights, buildings and trees from the items menu, found by pressing the car ( ) icon at the top of the screen.

When you add an item, you can move it around the scene by holding down on it and dragging it around. You can rotate it using two fingers in a twisting motion. You can resize an item using a pinching motion with two fingers.

You can also double tap on an item to bring up a properties menu where, depending on the type of item, you can switch on lights, resize and rotate.

If you press the pen icon at the top of the screen ( ), you will be able to add drawings. You can choose a colour and size for the pen, and if you want to remove all of your drawings, you can press the bin ( ) button to do so.

If you want to clear all of the items from your scene, you can press the menu icon ( ) in the top left, then choose, "Clear scene". If you want to save your scene, you can choose "Save this scene" - you will be asked to give it a name to save it as.

You can also share the scene via WhatsApp, email or any other app by pressing "Share".

5. Adjusting your settings

From the Dashboard screen, you can press the settings button in the top left ( ) to open your settings menu. From here you can toggle dark mode on or off, delete all of your saved scenes, send us feedback or request a new feature, or sign out from your account.

If you would like to update your account, you will need to do this from the Instructor Portal app.

Things that aren't currently in this video

Since this video was made, we've added a rubber (eraser) tool for the drawings, a new "Clear All" button in the scene's menu, and the ability to switch off the 'pinch to zoom' functionality.

We will produce further videos on these features soon.
