There are other elements of the test that they need to mark, which doesn't mean you have received a recorded fault. They have to mark down when a manoeuvre, hill start, angled moving off, and more are completed.

When you are on the independent driving part of the test, it's common to miss your mirrors and signalling when listening to and following the satnav. Remember, every time you hear a new direction, be prepared to check your mirrors and put a signal on if needed.

It is natural to want to know what will happen on your first driving lesson, as you may feel a bit nervous or unsure about how it will go. Rest assured our driving instructors at driveJohnson's are all highly qualified and trained at putting learners at ease, so there is nothing to be worried about.
On your first driving lesson, your driving instructor in Porth will ask you about your previous experience driving a vehicle as you may already have some. If you haven't, that is completely fine. You will not be expected to have driven before.
Your driving instructor will run through the basics of driving a car, they will check your eyesight and also check your provisional licence, so please be sure to bring this with you. After this, you will start to practice driving in a quiet area, looking at moving off and stopping, clutch control, how to steer and the different pedals involved. This will always take place in a quiet area to ensure that you feel comfortable and at ease.
That's great that you have been practising driving with your dad. Practising driving outside of driving lessons can be really helpful in building up your confidence and skills and, as long as the person with you is legally able to supervise you (see our article on who can teach me to drive) it can help you pass faster. However, a qualified driving instructor will be able to teach you the latest driving test requirements and ensure you learn driving techniques up to DVSA standard, which you may not be able to learn with family. It is always therefore strongly recommended to have lessons with a driving instructor as well.
You might be surprised to hear how often we find that people are nervous in their first driving lesson. It is absolutely normal to feel this way and our driving instructors at driveJohnson's are highly experienced in helping their pupils with nerves.
