At driveJohnson’s, we want to give back to charities and the local community. Providing driving lessons to many young people across the country, we feel particularly strongly about the difficulties young people face. The causes we support reflect this.
Every year, we sponsor at least one sports team looking for local funding. This year, we are sponsoring the Newport Pagnell Pumas.

We provide regular monthly donations to Great Ormond Street Hospital, which treats children with rare and complex illnesses. The charity supports the children and their families and carries out vital research into their conditions.
In 2024, Company Director Anthony Johnson ran the London Marathon for the first time to raise money for Young Lives vs Cancer, a charity providing support for children and young people aged 0-25 and their families to get through cancer.
Since running his first marathon, he has gone on to run the following marathons in his quest to become an Abbott World Marathon Majors Six Star Finisher:
- London 2024, 2025, 2026 – Best time: 3 hours 33 minutes
- Chicago 2025 – 3 hours 40 minutes
- Tokyo 2026 – 3 hours 33 minutes
- Berlin 2026 – 3 hours 15 minutes
Last two to complete:
- New York 2026 – 1st November 2026
- Boston 2027 – 19th April 2027
We estimate Anthony will have raised over £25,000 for children’s charities, including Young Lives vs Cancer, Save the Children and Camp Shriver, by the time he completes the Boston Marathon in 2027.
Anthony isn’t the only member of the driveJohnson’s team to have taken on a marathon for charity. In 2025, our office manager, Nicki Custance, ran the London Marathon and raised over £4,000 for Young Lives vs Cancer. She took on the challenge alongside Anthony, with the pair completing the marathon together.
driveJohnson’s, in collaboration with Young Lives vs Cancer, has also launched the Drive Against Cancer Scheme to provide young people put forward by YLvC with 50 free driving lessons. The first person to benefit from the scheme, Danika Hill, has now passed her test in a manual car. The second, Lauren Dickinson, passed her test on Christmas Eve 2025 with zero driver faults.
Two further learners put forward by Young Lives vs Cancer are currently learning to drive through the Drive Against Cancer Scheme. Their driving lessons are being provided completely free of charge by driveJohnson’s as part of our ongoing support for the scheme.
