Continuing his loyalty to Young Lives vs Cancer, Anthony Johnson has recently completed his challenge of running 3 marathons in 3 months.
- His first stop was in Tokyo on 1st March 2026 –> Completed in 3 hours, 36 minutes, 9 seconds.
- The second stop was in London on 26th April 2026 –> Completed in 3 hours, 33 minutes and 3 seconds.
- The third stop was Milton Keynes on 4th May 2026 –> Completed in 3 hours, 28 minutes and 43 seconds.
Tokyo Marathon
In Tokyo, Anthony was aiming for a sub-3-hour 35-minute marathon. Unfortunately, he fell just short of his target time on a very hot day, but still achieved a new personal best, beating his previous marathon time of 3 hours, 40 minutes and 8 seconds.
This was an impressive result given the jet lag and tough conditions.
London Marathon
Another hot day in London made it hard for Anthony to achieve his sub-3-hour 35-minute goal. Fortunately, his extra training between Tokyo and London paid off, as he slashed his Tokyo PB by 3 minutes, achieving a time of 3 hours, 33 minutes and 3 seconds in London.
Anthony found this marathon harder, but the crowds played their part in helping him beat his goal time.
Milton Keynes Marathon
Running on supposedly tired legs, Anthony decided to run this marathon cautiously for the first 17k to see how he felt, but it still gave him a shot at achieving his ultimate goal of a sub-3:30 marathon.
He paced it well for the first 17k running at an average pace of 5:05 for the first 17k, before stepping it up to a 4:50k pace to 30k. Feeling good, he then progressed to a 4:45 pace for the last 12k, running a fantastic negative split race and achieving a new PB time of 3 hours 48 minutes and 43 seconds.
He was over the moon with his time, and he can now enjoy the summer with a new focus on achieving a sub-3:20 marathon in September, where he aims to run the Berlin marathon.
Message from Anthony:
“Thank you to everyone who has supported and sponsored me in my past marathons, and for donating to Young Lives vs Cancer. We have managed to raise over £3,500 for Young Lives Cancer this time round. Since 2024, we have raised over £12,000, plus we have given away thousands of pounds of lessons to young people with cancer too through our Drive Against Cancer scheme.
This training block has been particularly challenging as we welcomed our second child in October 2025. Balancing work, family life, and running has been tough. Most of my runs recently have been either early mornings between 5:30 and 6:30am, or late at night while my older daughter, Freya, is at activities like netball practice. I’d say around 80% of my runs have been in complete darkness.
I’ve actually really enjoyed the running itself; it’s just been a challenge fitting it all in. Seeing everyone’s kind messages leading up to previous races has been a huge motivation, and knowing I’ve raised money for young people with cancer is incredibly rewarding.
I’m over the moon with my new BP time. I have worked really hard to achieve this time, and it felt quite fitting to finish on a new high in my home town of Milton Keynes, where I’ve grown up all of my life.
Thank you again to everyone who has supported me and donated!”
