Very patient, lovely, and has great methods of teaching which really help you to learn exactly what you need in a short space of time. Don knows exactly what is needed of you in the test and never fails to better your driving skills with each lesson, I'm so pleased that I passed and couldn't have done it without him. Plenty of jokes and tunes throughout the lessons to lighten the mood!

Having only started driving a week ago to the day, with no previous experience, I would like to share my delights with you all. I'm not gonna lie it was turbulent yet I've learnt so much over this amazing journey. I would like to give a special thanks to DriveJohnsons, Ernie the car and the one and only Don, my coach.

Go on Don!! Legend! Such a great coach! I Go to Portsmouth uni but travel back to oxford just to do lessons with him! I'm a nervous driver and make silly errors but I passed in no time!!! Great teaching method! Great service! Go to Don aka coach! :D

Paul Houghton is a honest and helpful instructor. I learned a lot from him. I was able to clear my test in first attempt.

A friend told me about Don and said how great he was. Never once did he make me feel like quitting and i passed first time. I would highly recommend him to everyone that's how good he his.

I had a driving instructor before (through a different company) who was awful so I was nervous when I booked Don but he was amazing. Don is always in a good mood, I felt completely safe and relaxed in the car and learnt so much, especially with help from the Drive Johnsons learner page, so helpful. I felt Don had confidence in me and really listened to my concerns and what I struggled with and would create a good plan to combat these. I can't rate him highly enough, I've already recommended him to everyone I know.His jokes aren't as funny as mine though.

Absolutely had a blast in my lessons with Don! He is a great instructor with a great sense of humour. Goes through everything thoroughly with you. I would definitely recommend him to everyone.

Don is a very punctual and straight talking instructor and that's what makes him special . He won't waste your time chatting about football , he's brilliant at what he does.

absolutely amazing Instructor. He took someone who was initially terrified at the mere thought of operating a vehicle (owing to a major road traffic collision), to someone who passed their driving test first time last week. Chad is the most patient, kind and caring instructor with a depth of knowledge that is incredible. I will forever be thankful for the time he took teaching me.

I already had driving experience in the pass but I needed to get out of bad habits and up to standard to enable to pass my driving test. I didn't pass 1st time due to a silly mistake of my own, but Dom helped me to correct my mistakes which enabled me to pass 2nd time. I would definitely recommend him.

I was so nervous at the prospect of driving. After just one lesson I felt at ease. I couldnt of asked for a better instructor to fill me with confidence. You can see the improvement in every lesson and I couldn't recommend him more.

I phoned the drive Johnsons office and spoke to a really bubbly lady who advised me to take 2 hours per lesson which is brilliant advice because I would never learn in just a 1 hour lesson so anyway after 34 hours I passed my practical which I’m so happy with.

YESSSS!!!!! I passed my test with only ONE minor fault.

When I met Don first time for an assessment I immediately knew he was the type of instructor I was looking for. His approachable personality and great sense of humour made me feel at ease.
I just can't thank Don enough for his invaluable teachings and insights.

Great instructor, really knows his stuff and knows how to get you to do the right thing - be warned, he's not one for dilly-dallying around, but he is a coach and a half! Make sure to ask him about 'the man of the cloth' he instructed :) In his own words - "I'm surprised he hasn't been knighted yet!"

after failing my test 4 times with another company I came to Johnsons for a fresh start and im so lucky I did as my instructor paul gave it his all to help me pass.

Don is a very good instructor and very friendly. I will recommend him to anyone wanting to learn how to drive.

A friend of mine highly recommended Don to me, and I have been recommending Don to people too. Don always turns up on time for our lessons. He encourages and challenges me in a patient and constructive way. Don taught me how to drive safely, which has also made me a safer cyclist. Don has become more of a friend to me now. I was happy to pass my driving test, but I was sad at the same time because I enjoyed driving with Don and didn't want our lessons to finish!

By the way, Don is totally English in accent, so you won't have any problem with understanding him.

Passed my test with Don, in a really short space of time. Sending relatives over from India in order to complete course! An unforgettable experience. Such a great coach with a smile that is forever present.
It was a long journey but a memorable one too. I would not of been able to manage if it was not for Don being by my side, I have already recommended him to many of my mates and will carry on to do so.

Don was a committed, attentive and dedicated coach who instructed me through trial and error, mistakes and bad habits. Don always made it very clear from the start that he really wanted his students to understand what it meant to be a good and sensible driver on the road and not just take lessons purely as a means of passing quickly and with that short sighted view in mind.

I would like to thank Don for the patience, enthusiasm and exceptional instruction he brought to my driving - my confidence on the road has improved- and would I recommend him to anyone looking for good quality teaching. Hats off and thanks to you Don and the many drivers you have seen through this important milestone!

Don was recommended to me and I was not disappointed, he is easily the best instructor I have had (and I have a few), very reliable and consistent. Will always try and fit you in and tailor the times to best suit you where possible. He is very friendly with a positive can do attitude. What I most like about Don is he does not try and give you more lessons than you need like other company's, if he thinks your ready he will tell you, and if you need more lessons then believe me you should take the advise and take more lessons. Overall I was very very satisfied with the instructor, and will definatly recommend Don to anyone wanting to pass their test.

I called Drive Johnsons for some advise as I had never had lessons before, I spoke to a really nice lady on the phone who advised me to start with an introductory lesson. I was really pleased with how well both the office staff and my instructor dealt with my needs and could fit me in up to my test day which I passed. Thanks for all your help. Donovan is a great driving structor who I would highly recommend without hesitation he is amicable and made me feel at ease he gave me the confidence and knowledge to allow me to pass my test first time with only one miner for not indercating into the test centre (my fault) if your'e looking for a instructor for yourself or your children then don russle is the guy to go to!

When I first started taking lessons with Don I was a terrified learner (trainee as Don prefers to call it) driver and I have just passed my test with only 3 minors! I couldn't have done it without Don! Lessons with him are engaging and fun. He has a way of making you feel at ease, but at the same time not letting any bad driving practice slip through the net. He is very encouraging and does not ask you take any more lessons than you need, a rare trait! He keeps calm in what could be potentially really stressful situations, and really treats you like you're one of his cadets- he took the trouble to come in and try and jumpstart our car when it broke down, without asking anything for it. My husband is now taking lessons with him, and I would whole heartedly recommend him to anyone!! Thanks coach! :D

Don is a great instructor I had an international licence and needed to pass my uk test and Don was recommended to me by my wifes friends. He is calm, patient, very helpful and gave me great confidence, I had about 10 hours of lessons with Don and passed first time.

Don taught all three of us sisters to drive and we passed within six months of each other, which, in all truth, is probably his most masterful achievement to date. Don matches oratorical fireworks of advice with a sense of humour, mischief and slight exaggeration which is likely unparalleled in a driving instructor. He's quite excellent at the actual teaching part too, if you rate that sort of thing. We will all miss his technical skill and observations, the provision of free water and the occasional offering of chewing gum. Most of all we will miss his own unique brand of personal wisdom, and cannot recommend him highly enough.

Don does his job so well and you can see he's so passionate about it. Amazing funny guy and he will have you passed in no time!

Don has triple the charisma of Obama and is venerably the world's greatest driving instructor. Not only will he regale with you stories of his life that challenge Sinbad the sailor's for adventure, but you will also find yourself simultaneously relaxedly easing into those reverse around the corners, parallel parks, and turns in the road as though into a delicious jacuzzi. Woe betide the learner who misses the opportunity to learn with Don Russell.

My parents had brought me a voucher for some lessons for my Birthday so I could start my lessons and im so glad they found Drive Johnsons as I passed my test today with 3 minor faults.

Dom is a brilliant instructor. Having had no experience of driving and doing a semi intensive course (18 hours in 5 days) I passed first time. He is very good at what he does because he is understanding, patient, calm, cares and believes in his clients. I heard about Dom when I was on a bus heading home and two girls where talking about an instructor one had and saying how great their experience was with learning to drive. If you need an instructor look no further Dom is you man.

I passed my test today with Chad at Drive Johnson’s it was my first ever company and I passed first time BUZZING!!

I have been taking lessons in different cities for what felt like forever. When i moved to Oxford, i was recommended to take lessons with Don and it has paid off! Passed today and couldn't have done it without Don's help. He was always calm and relaxed while i drove, and was very reliable. I was able to pick up the new area very quickly and he always gave great advice during lessons. Highly recommended!!!
