Moving off with the handbrake on is a popular reason for failing your test. Many learners don't release the handbrake fully when moving off, and then 5-10 seconds later, the car starts to make a beeping noise - at this point, you have probably failed your test

Sometimes you may need help hearing or understanding the examiner's directions. Ask politely and immediately for them to repeat the instruction. Don't guess or ask when you are too close to the junction. You can re-enforce the direction by asking. The examiner will happily confirm this for you.
