On your first driving lesson, your driving instructor will come to meet you and have an initial chat. They will ask about you and your prior driving experience, if you have any. Your driving instructor will also go over the basics of the car, and do an eyesight check and check your provisional driving licence to ensure you are able to drive.

Once this is done, if you haven't driven before, your instructor will then begin your driving lesson in a quiet area in town, somewhere like Shears Drive. They will cover moving off and stopping, clutch control, the different pedals, how to steer. You will always begin in a quiet area away from cars and other road users to learn at your own pace.
