It's good to be considerate about other road users, but on your test, you have got to go nice and slow, so you have time to do all the observations needed. The faster you do the manoeuvre, the faster your observations should be. You know what to do - keep your speed slow, so you have time to observe!

You have a 1 in 4 chance of being asked to do the emergency stop. If you are asked to do this, the examiner will explain this to you when the car is stationary. You will most likely notice your examiner looking over their shoulder when the car is moving. This is to double-check it’s safe, so be ready. When they look over their shoulder, they are about to ask you to stop!

Our goal is to get you to test standard quickly and safely so that you don't need to pay for driving lessons you don't need. In your driving lessons in Bath, depending on your experience, you will likely start off in a quiet, residential road, such as Albany Road, to master the basics. This will include the car controls, moving off and stopping, changing gear and clutch control.
Once you have covered these, your driving instructor in Bath will have you driving around quieter areas, such as Weston, to get you comfortable with turning left and right from a major to minor road, emerging from T Junctions and meeting traffic. Larkshall is also a great area to practice hill starts.
As you grow in confidence, you will start tackling busier A and B roads around the city, including the A36 and A367. The nearest test centres to Bath are in Trowbridge and Bristol so, depending on which test centre you have booked with, your instructor will have you practicing the test routes around one of these test centres in your driving lessons.
