Some cars will tell you what gear you are in, and others don't. If in doubt, briefly touch the gear lever and based on its position, you should be able to identify what gear you are in without looking down.

Taking a mock test leading up to your driving test is a great way to practice the pressure and get a rough idea of how ready you are for your test. If you are getting 102 serious faults two weeks before your test, consider having a few extra hours. If you can't pass the mock test, how will you pass on the day of the actual test?
