We are often asked by our learners what to expect on their first driving lesson. Your driving instructor in Bolsover will come to meet you at the prearranged place and time that suits you. They will have a chat with you to get to know you a bit better, break the ice and find out about your driving experience. They will also need to check your eyesight and provisional driving licence to ensure that you are able to drive, so do remember to bring your provisional licence with you.
If you have had no prior driving experience, like many of our learners in Bolsover, your driving instructor will drive you to a quiet place in the town to practice away from traffic, somewhere like Nether View. There you will go over the basic controls of the car, steering, clutch control, moving off and stopping. You may also cover turning left from a major to minor road.
Should you have some driving experience, you will likely take a drive around Bolsover so that your driving instructor can assess your test-readiness. They will then build a lesson plan around your specific needs and cover the areas you need to work on.
At the end of your first driving lesson, your driving instructor will give you a quick debrief on what went well, what needs improvement, what you will be covering next lesson and anything you might want to look at in the meantime outside of lessons.
