Firstly, your instructor will check both your eyesight and provisional driving licence. You will then have a quick conversation about your experience and, if you have never driven before, you will be taken to a quiet area, but depending on your experience, that could change.
Once the housekeeping is in order, you will then begin by covering the basic controls of the car, how to adjust your seat and lights, how to change your mirrors, and what pedal does what. When comfortable and ready, you will then hit the road and begin by driving slow and practising simple turns.
