Learning with Tony was quick, simple and easy and when I passed after 20 hours it felt amazing.
Tony Mills is a fantastic instructor and he is someone who I would recommend to everyone in the Canterberry area. If you want to learn to drive an automatic car in Canterberry then choose Tony and you won't regret it
After making over 20 calls and being told everywhere was fully booked I managed to get a lesson booked with Drivejohnsons and since then I have had lessons weekly with my instructor Tony Mills. He is a very good instructor, I would recommend him to anyone.

Tony Mills is superb at being not only an instructor but also as a person, he cares and he helps and he is the best teacher I have ever had. I am so proud to have had him as my teacher when I learnt to drive and I am so happy to have passed with him.

Tony is fantastic I was struggling to learn to drive a manual but then I switched to automatic with Tony and it made everything so much simpler. His way of teaching is amazing and I can't rate him high enough

Tony Mills is a very calm, patient and excellent instructor. He broke everything down into easy to understand pieces and I was able to pass at my first attempt. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for an instructor in the ASHFORD or Folkestone area.
Brilliant teaching and always made me feel at ease when we were out on the road. It helped that Tony talked to me about football and other topics I was interested in as it put me at ease and helped me to learn at my own pace.

I was able to get an early test after passing my theory and thanks to Tony I got ready in less than 10 hours of lessons and was able to pass my early test with just three minors.

I'd had lessons before with 2 different instructors and wasn't happy with my lessons, I decided to change driving school to drive johnsons and they put me with Tony as my instructor. It's a classic, but many learners think they should offset their mirrors, so they have to move their head more during the test. You should be able to check your mirrors by moving your eyes - not your head. The examiners are trained to look out for eye checks rather than head movements. Moving your head may cause the examiner to think your mirrors are not set up correctly.

When you are on the independent driving part of the test, it's common to miss your mirrors and signalling when listening to and following the satnav. Remember, every time you hear a new direction, be prepared to check your mirrors and put a signal on if needed.

When you take driving lessons in Hythe, you will need to travel to another location to take your driving test. Luckily all of our driving instructors in Hythe are test route specialists, and they can help you pass with confidence.
When choosing a driving test centre, your closest one is Folkestone, then Canterbury and Ashford. When learning with one of our grade-A instructors, you will be shown the test routes and potential hazards before the day of your test.
Your driving instructor in Hythe will ask you about your previous experience. If you have not had any previous lessons, that is fine as many people have not had any previous experience. During this chat, your driving instructor will also go over the basics of the car, and they will do an eyesight check and check your provisional licence.
Once this is done, your instructor will begin your driving lesson in a quiet area. They will cover moving off and stopping, clutch control, the different pedals and how to steer. You will always begin in a quiet area away from cars and other road users to learn at your own pace.
