Remember on 30mph roads to keep at least six car lengths back from the car in front (if they are doing 30mph). Anything above 40mph, use the 2-second rule! If it is raining, remember that the stopping distance will double.

All of our teaching vehicles are modern, dual-controlled cars with heating and air conditioning. So no need to worry about getting too hot and uncomfortable on warm days - our driving instructors in Ilkley will pop the air conditioning on to keep you nice and cool.
Learning to drive in Ilkley, you have plenty of quieter areas where you can get to grips with the basics away from traffic. Your driving instructor will come to pick you up at a location and time that works well for you, and they will begin the lesson by having a quick chat to introduce themselves and to find out a bit more about you. After checking your eyesight and provisional driving licence, they will take you to a local road, such as St Mary's Close, where you can you can practice behind the wheel without being disturbed by other cars. You will go over how to move and stop the car, how to change gears and steer, how to turn left and right, and, if you are progressing quickly, how to emerge from an open T Junction. Your instructor will tailor your lesson to your specific learning style and requirements.
