There isn't a driving test centre for cars on your doorstep, though there is one for motorcycles in Kirkham. The nearest driving test centre for cars is a 15 minute drive away in Preston. The next closest one is in Blackpool, about 25 minutes away by car.
First off, thank you for considering using driveJohnson's instructors for your son's lessons. We understand that, as a parent of a learner driver, you want to help and support your child with the process as much as possible, and our aim is to do the same.
With driving lessons in Kirkham, we would start him in a quiet, residential area where he could practise, perhaps up by Flaxfield Way and the nearby roads. Once he has mastered some basic controls and manoeuvres and feels more confident, his driving instructor would begin to take him out on busier roads, such as the B1592. His driving lessons will not be restricted to just Kirkham and, as soon as he is ready, our driving instructor will be looking to take him on the A583 dual carriageway towards Preston to get him used to the test routes in and around there, if that is where his driving test will be held. Please be assured that this will all be done in the timing that works for your son and his individual skillset.
