Paul is an excellent all-round driving instructor who has been fundamental in helping me understand all principles of driving thus enabling to acquire the skills to pass my test. He is able to cater to the strengths and needs of any learner, whilst simultaneously aiding them in overcoming their weaknesses. Throughout my time learning, he continuously showed great levels of enthusiasm and understanding. Whenever a problem arose, he always offered a multitude of solutions which evidently illustrates great knowledge and passion for his profession. Paul is a great driving instructor, he understands, listens and is very patient. I have adhd so he adapted the way he teaches to help me learn and understand. He will definitely make sure that you drive without fault and that you understand the reasons why you can't do certain things. With his great deal of experience he is able to tackle any hurdle and knows exactly what to do in certain situations. I would definitely recommend Paul to anyone with nerves and anxiety when it comes to driving.

Very knowledgeable teacher, I learnt more in one lesson with Paul than I have learnt in 10 lessons with my previous instructor. Very calm and positive even while stalling the car a lot in my first lesson. Very professional and friendly, would recommend.

There are many types of driving instructor, you can get cubic zirconia or you can get diamond. Paul is a diamond! I took my first step back into driving after an absence of 25 years, extremely nervous and having never really had much confidence in the first place. With low expectations I have learned so many techniques in my first refresher lesson I can’t believe it. I expected to drive round an industrial estate for hours tbh. I have learned how to parallel park, park in a bay at Sainsbury’s and drive in busy traffic in just two hours. I still have some relearning but also learning to do as my past instructors never got me in and out of the car looking at where I’ve just put the car and importantly why and how. I never really understood why some things I did worked and some didn’t, I’m getting to see the theory of it which is what I personally need to feel happier behind the wheel. Paul says he will teach you what you need to learn to drive for life not to get through a driving test and I totally believe it. I only wish he’d been able to teach me those years ago. Certainly does what he says on the tin! And anybody lacking in confidence or skills would benefit from some time with him.

Paul is a great driving instructor, after having my first lesson with a new instructor since 7 years ago i feel like im learning at a pace that tests my driving skills to better them. Paul is better than other instructors ive had and utilises the time i have on lessons so i feel like i get the most of my lessons. Very professional, friendly, patient and helpful instructor! As an anxious driver starting up lessons again after over a year off, Paul has helped me to become a lot calmer and more confident on the road by explaining clearly and reassuringly why a mistake happened and how to prevent it from happening again. I felt comfortable on my lessons very quickly and that I could ask any questions and recieve well-informed, well educated answers and solutions to tackle problems.

I particularly like how he asks you what your goals are each lesson and what you hope to achieve, so the focus is on you and your progression and not just doing the same thing over and over every lesson. Paul is fantastic compared to previous instructors I've had and genuinely seems to care about helping you to become the best driver you can be. He's gone above and beyond and he's definitely up there with the best. I would absolutely 100% recommend to future learners, Thank you!

So you can teach an 'old dog new tricks', or Paul can! I was very nervous about learning to drive and Paul put me at my ease with his calm, unflappable manner. This is because he helped me to believe in myself and find the virtuous circle, not the vicious. He can help you too because he gets to know and understands how to help you best and if you need to stop and reset yourself after a mistake or two, he let's you. I passed my test first time with only one minor fault.

First time pass with Paul!! He's such a patient and calm instructor. I tried a few different instructors before I found Paul and I'm so glad I did. His teaching style is calming, so if you're anxious about getting behind the wheel he is a good choice for you. He always encourages you to be reflective at the end of a lesson, thinking about what went well and what you can focus on to improve next lesson. Paul has really high standards for his students, which was actually such a good thing because he would warn me about lots of smaller errors that perhaps other instructors dont draw attention to and it meant I found the test easy. I had my first ever lesson with Paul the other day and the amount of progress I achieved was unbelievable, I was only expecting to be doing a few manoeuvres on an empty piece of land somewhere but I did so much more such as parking, turning on a roundabout and driving lots, I had a few nerves at the start but they soon passed when I was in the drivers seat being reassured by Paul, he put me at rest and helped me immensely, I would definitely recommend him to anyone wanting to learn how to drive, especially first timers!

I have just past my test on Friday on my first attempt.Pual is a very reliable instructor, he always points out all my mistakes through my driving at the same time he gives me the confidence I need too. I used Paul Reilly with Drive Johnson’s. Having previously had lessons outside the company, coming to drive Johnson’s was definitely for the better! I came to paul after being treated badly by another instructor so i was obviously sceptical about finding another but paul was amazing from our first lesson he kept me feeling rest assured he wasnt just here for my money he took time in showing me things my old instructor never did! Had my first block of lessons with Paul yesterday, learnt an unbelievable amount. Friendly and doesn’t put the pressure on at all, let’s you learn at your own pace but is constantly trying to help you learn. If you need an instructor, this is the man!

Paul is amazing, I bought vouchers for a block course of driving lessons as a present for my nephews 21st, he was responsive and happy to answer any questions I had and sent vouchers in super fast time! My nephew is loving his lessons and making great progress, Paul has gone above and beyond sending me progress reports via text which I think is lovely! He super professional and if anyone is thinking of buying vouchers as a special Christmas present I would strongly recommend Paul, you won’t regret it!
