Examiners are very partial to drivers following too close. Remember on 30mph roads to keep at least six car lengths back from the car in front (if they are doing 30mph). Anything above 40mph, use the 2-second rule! If it is raining, remember that the stopping distance will double.

If you make a mistake on your driving test, try not to dwell on it. What you think is a serious fault, the examiner may not. So put it to the back of your mind and focus on the road ahead. The better the overall drive, the more the examiner may forgive the fault you thought you’d failed on.

Your driving instructor in Odiham will ask you about your previous experience. If you have not had any previous lessons, that is fine as many people have not had any previous experience. During this chat, your driving instructor will also go over the basics of the car, and they will do an eyesight check and check your provisional licence.
Once this is done, your instructor will begin your driving lesson in a quiet area. They will cover moving off and stopping, clutch control, the different pedals and how to steer. You will always begin in a quiet area away from cars and other road users to learn at your own pace.
