When you go for your test, try to aim for perfection. If your standards are that high, you may make some faults, but you will still pass. If you aim to scrape through the test or say to yourself, "I don't care if I fail", you probably won't pass. Consider having more lessons until you feel comfortable with your ability and when your instructor is praising you.

If the examiner makes conversation with you on your test, always respond to avoid being rude. They will usually ask you a minimum of two questions. They are something along the lines of, “what do you do for a living?” Or, “have you had to take today off work?”
If you are approaching a junction or a tricky area, then just focus on your driving and when it’s safe to respond, then do so. The examiner will understand you are focusing on your driving, and they shouldn't be offended.

Your driving instructor in Paignton will ask you about your previous experience. If you have not had any previous lessons, that is fine as many people have not had any previous experience. During this chat, your driving instructor will also go over the basics of the car, and they will do an eyesight check and check your provisional licence.
Once this is done, your instructor will begin your driving lesson in a quiet area. They will cover moving off and stopping, clutch control, the different pedals and how to steer. You will always begin in a quiet area away from cars and other road users to learn at your own pace.
