Always get to the test centre 10 to 15 minutes early. You are allowed to drive in 5-10 minutes before the test starts. At many test centres, it gets congested. By getting in the test centre car park as early as possible, you can get the best parking bay, in case you are asked to do the bay park manoeuvre.

A classic question is, what happens if you go the wrong way on your test? The answer is not a lot. Just try to do it safely, and you will be fine. Many learners will swerve at short notice, realising they are in the wrong lane and fail for the changing lanes part. If the examiner can see you have time to get into the correct lane, they may repeat the instruction or use hand signals. They won't repeat or re-enforce the direction if it isn't safe or there isn't enough time. You will not receive a driving fault for safely going in the wrong direction on your test.

You'll get the best of both worlds when you take driving lessons in Rossendale - you'll get the scenic country roads when close to home and the narrower, busier urban roads when you head into either Bury or Blackburn for your driving test practice. You'll also be able to learn how to join and leave a national speed limit dual-carriageway, with there being three junctions on the A56 Haslingden Bypass in the district.
The Rossendale District covers many areas, including Bacup, Newchurch, Helmshore, Edenfield and Haslington. Although you may start and practise your driving in Rossendale, you'll have to travel to your nearest driving test centre for your actual test since Rossendale doesn't have its own. You have the option of the Bury (7 miles away) or Blackburn with Darwen (8 miles away) test centre. We'll allocate you an instructor who will cover the centre of your choice when you book in. Practice makes perfect, so when you're a more confident driver, your instructor will take you to the test centre area so you can become familiar with the local roads, junctions and roundabouts.
From your first lesson, you will be given our detailed progress log and reflection log. This has broken down everything you will need to know to be test ready into sections. These sections are beginner, general, intermediate, manoeuvres, advanced, road types, driving conditions, navigation and test preparation.
You won't be covering all of these topics in one lesson. However, you will find yourself progressing through the sections relatively quickly. Each section is scored from 1 to 16, once you are at the higher end of the scale you are ready to take your test.
