508, Middlewood Road, Sheffield S6 1TQIn some busy towns and cities, there are many traffic lights and pedestrian crossings on your test routes. Remember the following and you should be fine:
- Steady amber means stop if you can do so safely
- Red and amber means get ready to go
- Flashing amber means proceed if safe to do so and the crossing (if present) is clear

Depending on your needs, your lessons will begin in areas such as Whiston or Rawmarsh in order to build up your confidence and get you ready to tackle busier areas. You will cover the basic car controls, moving off and stopping the car, and turning left and right from a major to minor road. Your instructor will then introduce busier A roads, such as the A633, so that you're provided with a well-rounded driving experience. You will practice dual carriageways and roundabouts on the A630 and A631, and motorway driving on the M1. As soon as your driving instructor feels you are ready, you will be practising all the popular test routes for your chosen driving test centre (likely Rotherham or one of the two in Sheffield) so that you are ready for anything you may face on test day.
