Depending on your needs, your lessons will begin in areas such as Whiston or Rawmarsh in order to build up your confidence and get you ready to tackle busier areas. You will cover the basic car controls, moving off and stopping the car, and turning left and right from a major to minor road. Your instructor will then introduce busier A roads, such as the A633, so that you're provided with a well-rounded driving experience. You will practice dual carriageways and roundabouts on the A630 and A631, and motorway driving on the M1. As soon as your driving instructor feels you are ready, you will be practising all the popular test routes for your chosen driving test centre (likely Rotherham or one of the two in Sheffield) so that you are ready for anything you may face on test day.

The routes through the town centre will really put your new skills to the test, with roundabouts in quick succession, busy traffic light controlled junctions and dual-carriageways to deal with.
