Shelley is a kind, honest, patient & adjustable instructor. I am neurodiverse with mental health problems & she kept me calm through each lesson and helped me understand each concept/skill and any issues that came up, in any way I needed to understand them. She explained them in different ways if I needed her to, which was super helpful. We had some bumps in the road when I was put on medication, which slowed my thinking about a month before my test and she really put the work in! I wouldn’t have passed my theory & practical first time without her. I would highly recommend her to everyone. She gave me all the confidence, inspiration and tools to be a safe driver, whilst helping with other things in the background which not many instructors out there will do. I never felt scared or worried to make mistakes, to ask questions or to say I disagreed as I always felt at ease and comfortable. Shelley is an amazing instructor and such an amazing, kind soul, she’s a pleasure to be around!

For some reason, overtaking a cyclist on your driving test becomes much trickier. The human brain over analyses everything because of the pressure. Here's some tips to decide when to overtake them. You should never overtake a cyclist approaching or on a junction. You should never overtake a cyclist if you can't leave them at least an open car door length (1 metre). You should only overtake them if you think you can do it quickly and smoothly. If you are in slow moving traffic, consider holding back.

Learning to drive in the picturesque town of Rugeley, you have plenty of places to build up your confidence away from fast, busy traffic. On your first lesson, your driving instructor in Rugeley will come to meet you at a time and place that works well for you. They will introduce themselves and have a quick initial chat with you to get to know you a bit better and put you at ease. In this, they will ask you about any prior experience you may have had behind the wheel prior to this lesson. They will also go over the basics of the car, do a quick eyesight check and check your provisional licence to ensure the lesson can begin safely.
If you are new to driving, your instructor will drive you to a quiet road in Rugeley where you can start practicing without being put under pressure by other road users, such as Queen Street or Rishworth Avenue. You will learn how to move off and stop the car, how to use the clutch, the different pedals and how to steer. You may also cover turning left and right from a major to minor road and emerging from T Junctions, depending on how fast you are progressing.
If you have had more experience, your driving instructor may ask you to take them on a drive around Rugeley so that they can assess your current skill level and where you may need to improve in order to be test-ready.
