At many test centres, it gets congested. By getting in the test centre car park as early as possible, you can get the best parking bay, in case you are asked to do the bay park manoeuvre.

When approaching a no entry sign, expect the examiner to say nothing unless there is more than one option on where to go. As you approach the no entry, the examiner will be ready to brake you if you aren’t slowing down and look as though you will miss the no entry. If you notice their foot or leg moving slightly, you possibly have 1-2 seconds to go in the correct direction before they use the dual controls.

Your driving instructor in Selly Oak will ask you about your previous experience. If you have not had any previous lessons, that is fine as many people have not had any previous experience. During this chat, your driving instructor will also go over the basics of the car, and they will do an eyesight check and check your provisional licence.
Once this is done, your instructor will begin your driving lesson in a quiet area. They will cover moving off and stopping, clutch control, the different pedals and how to steer. You will always begin in a quiet area away from cars and other road users to learn at your own pace.
