On your first driving lesson with us, if you have had no prior driving experience, your driving instructor will start you off in a quiet residential road in the town, such as Hall Road. Here, you will learn the basic car controls, practice moving off and stopping as well as changing gears and clutch control.
Once you have mastered these, your instructor will have you driving around the windy, quiet roads on the outskirts of town, practicing your left and right turns, and emerging from T Junctions.
It won't long until you have the confident to tackle the heavier traffic in the centre of town, including the tricky crossroads between Station Road E and Gipping Way. Then you will be practicing dual carriageway driving on the A14 and large roundabouts on the A and B roads circling town.
Most of our learners choose to book their driving test at either Bury St Edmunds or Ipswich. If you choose to do this, rest assured that your driving instructor will look to book driving lessons in Bury St Edmunds or Ipswich ahead of your test in the area, so that they can familiarise you with the local test routes and challenges you might face on the day.
