When approaching crossroads, especially traffic-controlled lights, be wary of cars jumping the lights or going through amber lights. Glance in all directions before emerging through a crossroad. Minimum observations are: right, left, ahead, right and then go!

Between the A183, the A1018 and A19, you have your fair share of dual carriageways around Sunderland, where you will master how to join and leave them safely, overtake other road users and reach national speed limits. Furthermore, you'll learn how to tackle roundabouts with confidence.
When it comes to taking your driving test, you have quite a lot of local test centres available to you - the 2 closest being Sunderland itself or South Shields. Sunderland will be your best choice as you would have had plenty of practice around the busy roads and one-way systems.
Many of our learner drivers are in similar situations so it is quite normal for our driving instructors to pick up their pupils from one location and drop off in another.

Many learners choose to take their driving instructor with them on their test as it is can be really reassuring knowing that you have someone there that you trust and who is rooting for you.
