Many learners fail their manoeuvre because they rush it. They get concerned about keeping other road users waiting. It's good to be considerate about other road users, but on your test, you have got to go nice and slow, so you have time to do all the observations needed. The faster you do the manoeuvre, the faster your observations should be. You know what to do - keep your speed slow, so you have time to observe!

Your driving instructor in West Drayton will ask you about your previous experience. If you have not had any previous lessons, that is fine as many people have not had any previous experience. During this chat, your driving instructor will also go over the basics of the car, and they will do an eyesight check and check your provisional licence.
Once this is done, your instructor will begin your driving lesson in a quiet area. They will cover moving off and stopping, clutch control, the different pedals and how to steer. You will always begin in a quiet area away from cars and other road users to learn at your own pace.
The roads of West Drayton can get quite busy due to its proximity to the M25 and Junction 4 of the M4, a frequently used junction for getting to Heathrow Airport, attracting a number of hotels and restaurants to be located here. Since your driving instructor will be local to West Drayton, they will know to avoid these areas in your driving lessons, especially if you're a beginner. Beginner drivers will usually start their lessons out in a more quiet and convenient location like Mulberry Crescent, where the road is long and has a number of turnings for you to get to grips with starting, stopping and turning the car. Typically a beginner would spend 2-6 hours in these sorts of areas before moving onto more complex roads and junctions.
More confident drivers will most likely cover the roads and junctions closer to the Hayes Driving Test Centre. There's no point spending hours on end covering the same roads within West Drayton, you may as well head into Hayes and get familiar with the roads that will be used on the driving test. You can cut through Yiewsley and Colham Green to get there, or use the Stockley Road multi-lane roundabout to jump onto Shepiston Lane to take you straight into Hayes. Your driving instructor will cover both of these routes with you, covering the trickiest areas in depth, prepping you for everything that can be thrown your way on your test.
