Your driving instructor in Whitstable will come to meet you at the agreed upon place and time and will want to put you at ease. They will have an initial chat with you to find out a bit more about you and find out about your previous experience. If you have not had any previous lessons, don't worry as many of our learners haven't. Your driving instructor will also do a quick eyesight check and check your provisional licence to ensure you are able to drive.
Once this is done, you will get to show the instructor what you can do! If you have had little prior driving experience, you instructor will take you to a quiet residential road in Whitstable, such as The Warren or The Ridings, where you can practice behind the wheel away from traffic and other distractions. There you will learn the basic controls on the car, how to move off and stopp, clutch control, how to use the different pedals and how to steer. You may also cover turning left and right and emerging from T-junctions, if you are progressing quickly.
If you have had more driving experience, your instructor will likely ask you to drive around Whitstable so that they can see your skill level and what you will need to improve to be ready for your test. They will then build a lesson plan from this information to help you strengthen the areas that need some work. They will also be able to give you an idea how long it will take for you to be at test standard.
Rest assured, the lesson will be tailored to your specific requirements and will progress at a pace that you feel comfortable with.
