On your first driving lesson, your driving instructor in Wickford will come to pick you up at the time and place agreed in advance of the lesson. They will introduce themselves, have an initial chat with you to find out a bit more about you, and then check your eyesight and provisional licence.
If you have no prior driving experience, they will drive you to a quiet road in Wickford (somewhere like Broad Oaks) where you can practice behind the wheel away from traffic. You will likely go over the controls of the car, steering, gears and clutch control, moving off and stopping, and turning left and right from a major to a minor road.
If you have some prior experience, your driving instructor will likely ask you to drive around a quiet residential area of Wickford, such as around Park Drive, so that they can assess your skill set and tailor their lesson plan to your needs.
