Christmas is fast approaching, and if you’re looking for ideas on what to buy for someone who is learning to drive, we’ve got you covered. Whether you’re looking for stocking fillers or bigger gifts, we’ve put together a list of the best Christmas gift ideas for learner drivers.

Driving lesson vouchers
We might be slightly biased, but we think our driving lesson gift vouchers are one of the best presents you can give a learner driver this Christmas. Driving lessons can be costly, especially for young people who may still be in school/college or at university. So driving lesson vouchers are guaranteed to be a gift well-received for someone who is learning already or planning on starting in the new year.
Our driving lesson vouchers start from just £20 and make the perfect stocking filler. Our Christmas gift vouchers all come with a personalised Christmas card (choose from one of our four festive designs) and a welcome letter. You can purchase our driving lesson gift vouchers here.

L and P plates
Learner plates are essential for any learner driver who is planning on getting in some extra driving practise outside of lessons with an instructor. If you’re planning on letting them use your car and taking them for some extra lessons or someone else, they will need a set of L plates before they can go anywhere.
P plates also make a great gift or stocking filler for a learner driver to use once they’ve passed their driving test. While not compulsory, may new drivers choose to display P plates to signal to other drivers that they have just passed their test. Most drivers are more considerate and patient if you make a mistake while you have P plates on your car. Find out the benefits of p plates in our article ‘should I use P plates after passing my driving test?‘.
This pack of L and P plates would make a great gift for any learner, they’re also magnetic so can easily be removed when not being used.

driveJohnson’s Christmas special bundle pack
Our Christmas bundle pack makes a great gift for any learner driver either on its own or as an added extra with the purchase of driving lessons of a gift voucher. The Christmas bundle pack costs just £15.99 and here’s what you’ll get:
- Driving manual worth £19.99
- driveYourself CD worth £14.99
- Online theory training worth £14.99
- 25% off pass plus course
Our Christmas bundle pack arms learner drivers with everything they need to boost their learning outside of lessons and be pass even faster.

Theory training
If you’re looking for something a bit smaller than the bundle pack, out online theory training is available for just £6.99 (reduced from £14.99). Our online theory training can be accessed immediately when purchased. Once you have completed your purchase, you will receive an email with details on how to access your theory training; this can then be forwarded to the recipient or printed off and given to them on Christmas day.
Dashcam
Another gift idea that can be used once they have passed their driving test is a dashcam. Slightly more on the pricier side than the other gift ideas, dashcams are a great investment and would make a great present for a learner driver who will be getting a car as soon as they pass. Having a dashcam fitted will provide some peace of mind for a new driver and means if they’re unfortunate enough to be involved in an accident, they will be able to show who was at fault.
Dashcams come in a range of different prices, so they don’t always have to be too pricey. We would highly recommend this Garmin mini dashcam as it’s so small and compact it won’t be distracting when driving. See our article on the top 5 car accessories to buy after passing your test for more on dashcams and other cool accessories.

Car air fresheners
The perfect stocking filler, car air fresheners come in a variety of different scents and are a must-have item for any car. Car air fresheners are available in a range of different forms, there’s some that go in cup holders, some clip to the air vents or hang from the interior mirror. Depending on how well you know the person, you probably know whether they’re more of a cherry or clean cotton type of person, or you could get them a few different scents to try and switch things up a bit. Here are some of our favourite car, air fresheners:
- California scents car air freshener cherry
- Febreeze clip-on air fresheners
- Yankee candle car air fresheners

Pay for their driving test
The practical driving test can cost between £62 and £75 depending on whether you book it during the weekend or weekday. Paying for a learner drivers test is a sure way to put a smile on their face and take some of the pressure off the cost of learning to drive. We would recommend giving them the cash to book their test themselves when they are ready or sitting with them and booking it together.
If they’re not quite ready for their practical driving test, you could pay for their theory test instead, which costs £23.
Time to get shopping
Hopefully, you’ve now got some ideas of what to get your learner driver friend or family member for Christmas. You can purchase all of the gifts mentioned above online, so you don’t even need to leave the house!
Have a wonderful Christmas!
