Experience & About Me

Ive been teaching people to drive for around two years, although helping people develop their driving skills started long before I became an instructor. Having two neurodiverse teenage sons was one of the things that inspired me to become a driving instructor. I wanted to be able to help them learn to drive and realised that I could combine my experience on the road with my experience of working with people. I particularly enjoy working with nervous pupils who start out thinking, “I can't do this,” and seeing them gradually become someone who knows that they can. I've been described by pupils as a bit of a “driving uncle”, which I think sums me up pretty well!

Memorable Moment

Seeing pupils who once really struggled with coordinating their hands and feet reach the point where they can confidently master a parallel park. That moment when something suddenly clicks and they realise they can do it is one of the best parts of the job.

Likes

Camping and road trips, especially the freedom of getting out and exploring somewhere new. Watching someone's confidence grow and seeing them achieve something they genuinely didn't think they could do.

Dislikes

Drivers who seem completely oblivious to what's happening around them. And those drivers who apparently can't afford a track day, so decide the public road will have to do instead!
