At driveJohnson’s, we offer a very easy to join and very easy to leave franchise opportunity.
For most PDIs, this is perfect as there is often a concern about managing and balancing the current job and being a driving instructor. You may have heard some of the horror stories from instructors on social media about them not getting enough work, can’t afford the franchise or can’t get out of their contract.
With us, there are no long tie-ins so it is on us to keep the work coming in for you.
Why do we make it so easy to join?
To be fair, you’ll probably find most driving schools make it easy to join. Some will offer training cash-back enticements if you sign your life away too! driveJohnson’s offers probably the hardest thing to honour for a driving school franchise – free pupils for 2 weeks!
You can trial us for 2 weeks and, if you are unhappy, you can simply walk away and try somewhere else.
So many instructors within the industry have heard it all before or are concerned about lengthy franchise agreements. With these apprehensions in mind, it’s important for us to offer something different to our national and local competitors. If you are reading this far down, you are probably shrewd. You’re the type of person we are looking for, as the naive have already signed their lives away into 12 to 24 month contracts.
Why do we make it so easy to leave?
You need this peace of mind, especially if you are coming from another franchise that hasn’t served you in the way that you had hoped for.
We are incredibly confident you won’t leave us if we provide you with the pupils and support you need. We can offer just 4 weeks notice because we are so good for the work. This is our way of putting our money where our mouth is, so to speak.
Think about it; we have 500+ instructors who could all leave us with just 4 weeks’ notice in one go. In 4 weeks, our business could be closed – that’s how good we are for the work, and that’s why we don’t take too many instructors on in the same area!
We don’t have the luxury of sorting your pupil needs out in 12, 18 or 24 months time. For this reason, we will never overpopulate an area with too many instructors we can’t look after. We will be upfront and honest if we can or can’t help you.
How do we know we can help you?
To be honest, we don’t know. Until we have a proper chat over the phone about your circumstances. Fear not, you won’t talk to a pestering sales person – you’ll speak to either Anthony Johnson, the owner of the company, or Nicki Custance, the office manager.
When you enquire to join us, we will have an informal chat about your circumstances (usually over the phone). We will tell you if we can provide you with the work and the pupils you need. At the same time, if we are at capacity in your areas, we will also be honest with you and let you know we won’t be able to help. Our number 1 priority is to look after our existing instructors. If you become part of our team, you will appreciate our honesty and business philosophy.
Did you knows
- You don’t have to join your training provider after you have completed your training, unless you have signed a franchise agreement with them.
- You can leave your current sponsor during your trainee licence and join another driving school if you are not receiving the support and pupils you need on the trainee licence.
- If you are not getting enough work from your current franchise provider and you are on a trainee licence, get in touch with us – we can most likely help and advise you on your options.
- If you are approaching the end of a trainee licence and haven’t taken all of your attempts at the part 3, you may be able to obtain a second or third trainee licence – get in touch to find out your chances of receiving another trainee licence.
What support do we offer PDIs:
Many PDIs come to us, and they are content with their current trainer. We fully support those PDIs to continue their training with their local trainer. There is an old saying, “If it’s not broken, don’t fix it”, right?
However, you may be unhappy with your prospects of passing your Part 3, and if that’s the case, we are here for you by the following means:
- We have an online training zone for PDIs, which is a big eye-opener to many PDIs when they log in and see our available resources—everything from how-to pass guides, lesson plans, lesson planners, videos and more.
- We offer rescue training for those PDIs who have failed their first attempt. If you’re a driveJohnson’s PDI, call ‘Anthony’, the owner, and we will get you through and over the line. Nobody who has called on Anthony’s help has failed to qualify!
- We have very affordable group training days for in-car and office-based sessions. These courses are mainly conducted by Anthony Johnson and Saqib Butt, an Ex-DVSA Part 3 Examiner and our Master Trainer.
- Phone calls and Zoom session support from our Ex DVSA examiner and master trainer.
- Another hidden gem is our password-protected videos showing fly-on-the-wall Part 3 lessons. You can watch our videos anytime; they are all high-grade lesson plans. Many PDIs benefit from watching these videos as they explain precisely how the Part 3 test is conducted.
