UK Driving Test Centre Phone Numbers

You may feel the need to contact the test centre for the following reasons:

• The weather conditions are poor and you want to know if tests are still going ahead. If the weather is extreme – snow on the road for days then they will usually give more notice of tests not going ahead. If there is small amounts of ice on the road or fog, then the test centre manager will usually only confirm 1 hour prior to test or in some cases they can’t tell you until you get to the test centre. For ice and snow, it’s worth giving them a call. Driving in the ice and snow can become very dangerous very quickly so it’s always advised to double check.
•  You may have a query about a particular junction, you can call up for clarification on what the DVSA expect. Warning: Some examiners are more approachable than others.
• If you are unsure if your car is fit for test. IE: Warning light has come on. Some warning lights are acceptable, such as the service light. However, the ABS light being on isn’t okay.
• You may have been hit from behind and you have a slight crack on your number plate or chip/crack on windscreen. Sometimes it’s okay if the crack doesn’t go over the numbers/letters on the number plate or it does’t affect the drivers view (normally outside of the windscreen wiper range) but it’s worth asking or popping down to the test centre just to get clarification if your car is still okay for test by the test centre manager.
• If you want to warn the examiners of a pupil that is going down for test in their own car, when you have refused to take them yourself (hopefully with notice) Many examiners appreciate the warning, especially if the pupil is shockingly bad.

  The key time to call and speak to someone is when the examiners are in between tests. For example the first test of the day is usually 8:10am test for most areas, so you would call around 7:55am-8:05am or 8:55am to 9:05am. The next test is 9:10am (usually)
