I passed my driving test today with just 1 fault. Many thanks to Ben I couldn't have done it without him.
I'm currently learning with Ben and I am really enjoying my lessons at the mo. He makes the lesson fun and look forward to each lesson. Just got to pass my theory now and then I can book the test.
Learning to drive with Ben was brilliant. I was very in low in confidence and he encouraged me all the time, even when I almost killed us one lesson he was very calm about it. I certainly wasn't a natural but with Ben's excellent teaching he helped me pass. Thank you driveJohnson's and most importantly Ben!

If in doubt, briefly touch the gear lever and, based on its position, you should be able to identify which gear you are in without looking down.

Moving off with the handbrake on is a popular reason for failing your test. Many learners don't release the handbrake fully when moving off and then, 5-10 seconds later, the car starts to make a beeping noise. At this point, you have probably failed your test.

After having an initial chat with you about any previous driving experience you may have had, your driving instructor in Crowborough will do a quick eyesight check and look at your provisional licence. Then they will take you to a quiet area, like Pleasant View Road/Common Wood Rise, so that you can practise driving without being interrupted by traffic. You will be shown how to move off and stop in the car, how to use the different pedals, how to steer and clutch control. You will then practise going through the gears and how to turn left and right from a major to minor road. You may even practise T Junctions, should you be progressing quickly. Rest assured that your driving instructor will take the lesson at your own pace.
If you need to cancel your driving lesson for any reason, please let us or your driving instructor know at least 24 hours in advance of the lesson. If we have less notice than this, then your driving instructor is entitled to charge you the normal lesson rate, or the prorated charge if its a block booking.
Please have your provisional driving licence ready to show before your first driving lesson starts, otherwise your driving instructor will not be able to teach you. They will have to cancel the lesson but you may still be charged.
Our final reason for cancellation is if the vehicle you are due to drive breaks down or your driving instructor has an emergency (e.g. due to illness or bereavement) and is unable to attend. In this instance, driveJohnson's will do our best to find you a replacement vehicle or instructor. However, we may not be able to do this in time and the lesson may need to be cancelled.

Please just let our bookings team know the address that you need picking up from and where you need dropping off to, and they will arrange this with your driving instructor.
