Kent is officially the most dangerous place to drive during winter in the UK.
Kent has topped the list of most dangerous areas in the UK, with the county having the highest number of accidents in December over the past five years.
The information has come from all 45 police forces in the UK after a freedom of information request was submitted for details on all crashes in December between 2016 and 2020.
Overall there were 26,796 accidents in December, with 4,198 of them taking place in Kent.
Sussex was second with 3,065, followed by South Wales with 2,887 and Scotland with 2,505 accidents.
The bottom of the list was the City of London, with only 137 accidents recorded since 2016.
Looking at the data provided, you are less likely to encounter an accident when taking driving lessons in London than if you were having driving lessons in Folkstone or even driving lessons in Dunfermline.
When driving in December and the winter months, you should make sure you know how to drive at night and how to drive in ice and snow.
Along with showing the worst areas for accidents, it also highlighted the roads where the most accidents happen.
Four of the top five roads were in South Wales and saw 587 accidents in total, with the A470 having 216 accidents in the past five years.
When it comes to staying safe on the roads this winter, it is essential that you always plan your route, look at the weather forecast and ensure that your car is fit to drive in the winter.
