2025 marked a notable milestone for driveJohnson’s
Here’s what we’re particularly proud of from 2025:
- We helped over 22,000 pupils pass their driving test, many first time, with safety and confidence at the core of every lesson.
- We supported over 200 PDIs in qualifying as fully accredited driving instructors.
- We launched our Drive Against Cancer Scheme, which offers free driving lessons to people living with cancer, and our first two learners have passed their driving tests.
- We raised over £10,000 for Young Lives vs Cancer.
- We celebrated our 20th year in business with gratitude and even more passion for what we do.
- We launched our new and improved Learner App and Instructor App, marking a major upgrade and reinforcing our focus on innovation and smarter learning.
These achievements reflect the heart of our mission: helping people unlock independence, build confidence, and feel supported every step of the way.

How the votes are decided
The judging for the National Driving School of the Year award is split as follows:
- 50% by a panel of judges
- 50% by public vote
As total votes are equally combined, this means community support holds just as much weight as the judges’ scores in crowning the winner.
When will the winner be decided?
Voting closes on 23rd February 2026, and the winners will be announced on 21st March 2026.

A brief history of driveJohnson’s
Founded by Anthony Johnson in 2005, driveJohnson’s began with just one man and his car. Now, two decades later, the company has grown into one of the UK’s leading driving schools.
Today, we have an incredible team of over 800 driving instructors who work hard every day to help learners gain confidence behind the wheel and pass their driving tests with pride. driveJohnson’s now covers more than 1,000 areas, offering expert driving tuition across the UK. Anthony still plays an active role in coaching learners and supporting new instructors, ensuring that the high standards and personal service we’re known for remain at the heart of everything we do.
Over the years, we’ve built a strong reputation by serving people well. From learners taking their driving lessons to instructors building long-term careers, we’re proud to offer high-quality support at every stage. With modern tools, such as our digital learning resources and learning apps, we make learning to drive flexible, effective, and genuinely enjoyable.
What this award means to us
The National Driving School of the Year award is about more than a title for us. It’s really about recognising the people behind it all: our instructors supporting learners every day, our fantastic learners, our team working behind the scenes, and everyone who’s been part of the driveJohnson’s journey over the years. Being part of this competition gives us a chance to pause, look back on how far we’ve come, and think about where we’re heading next.
It also reflects the standards we care about most. Continuing to improve the learner experience, supporting instructors properly, and investing in better training and resources. Winning would be an amazing moment for us, but even being in the running reinforces why we do what we do.
