Remember on 30mph roads to keep at least six car lengths back from the car in front (if they are doing 30mph). Anything above 40mph, use the 2-second rule! If it is raining, remember that the stopping distance will double.

Your examiner will ask you to pull up the left several times during the test. Sometimes they will ask you to stop by something specific such as behind a parked car or next to a lamp post. Sometimes, they will ask you to pull up on the left at a safe place where you would leave your car.
When the examiner says this, they are testing to see whether you stop in unsuitable areas such as bends, double yellow lines, too close to a junction, opposite a junction, double parking, and more. When the examiner says, “Pull up on the left at a safe place where you would leave your car”, get your thinking cap on!

Yes, we have several automatic driving instructors that cover the town and the surrounding areas. We personally choose all of our automatic driving instructors at driveJohnson's, and they all come with a grade-A rating.
If you want to start automatic driving lessons in Bournemouth, you can request this when booking with us. We try to accommodate any request you have, and thanks to our years of service, we should be able to find the best instructor for you.
Your driving instructor will chat with you and ask you about your previous experience. During this chat, your driving instructor will also go over the basics of the car, and they will do an eyesight check and check your provisional licence.
You'll then drive to a quiet residential area in Bournemouth, somewhere like Headswell Crescent or Seagrim Road, where you can practice your driving skills without being disturbed by traffic. You will go over the basics of the car, gears and steering and practice moving off and stopping. You will start driving slowly around the area, practising turning left and right from major to minor roads.
As your confidence grows, your driving instructor will take you to busier areas, working your way up to the more congested A roads, such as the A347 and A35, where you will learn how to handle heavier traffic conditions and practice roundabouts. Rest assured that your driving instructor won't rush you before you are ready; they will progress you at a speed you feel happy with.
The length of time it takes to be test-ready will vary from person to person. However, what we can tell you is that, on average, learners pass with us after just 26 hours of driving lessons (that's less than half the national average of 57 hours!). We also regularly have learners in Bournemouth passing their driving test in 10-15 hours from scratch!
