Our instructors are all friendly and patient and will do everything they can to help you become a safe and confident driver. Having a bad experience with a driving instructor could understandably cause you to hate driving lessons; however, we promise to try our best to make you love driving and look forward to lessons!
Driving at busy periods and on high-speed roads will be common during your driving lessons in Leeds. However, your driving instructor will ensure you feel completely comfortable with the basics first. Areas where your instructor may take you on your first driving lesson in Leeds, including Moor Allerton, Seacroft, Gipton and Becketts Park.
Once you've covered the basics, your instructor will then cover many busier areas including: Holbeck, Hunslet, Woodhouse, Harehills, Burley, Belle Isle, Whinmoor, Bramhope, Alwoodley, Oakwood and the centre of the city too.
Leeds has two test centres: one in Harehills Lane and one in Horsforth. Most pupils choose the test centre they live closest to. However, it's not uncommon for learners to choose whichever test centre has the shortest waiting time.
As Leeds is one of the top ten biggest cities in the UK, you will see and pick up a huge amount of experience and driving skills each lesson. You will face all road types, from country roads to slow/fast urban roads to mini-roundabouts and spiral roundabouts.
You will begin in quieter streets, and your instructor will make sure that your confidence is grown. When it comes to learning to drive in Leeds, we will make sure you are confident and tackling the roads with confidence.
Your instructor will come to meet you at the time and place you had prearranged. They will introduce themselves and then check both your eyesight and provisional driving licence to ensure that you are able to drive. They will have a chat with you about your driving experience prior to this point. If you have never driven before, you will be taken to a quiet area in Leeds, like Ringwood Avenue, to practice behind the wheel away from distractions. If you have had some driving experience, your driving instructor may decide to take you out around the quieter roads in Leeds, such as Pendas Fields or Cookridge, to assess your ability and what you need to work on to be test-ready.
Once the lesson is over, you will have a quick debrief and go through the strengths and weaknesses of your lesson. Your instructor will also record what you covered and any advice or guidance that has been given to you for next time and for you to take away.
Yes, we have several automatic driving instructors who cover Leeds and the surrounding areas, including Yeadon and Horsforth. We personally choose all of our driving instructors at driveJohnson's, and they all come with a grade-A rating.
