If a vehicle is doing 55-60mph on a 70mph road, you will be expected to overtake if there is time and it’s safe. Remember the MSPSL routine in good time before starting the overtake.

Whilst we cannot give you a specific number of driving lessons you will need to pass, as this will depend on many factors such as confidence and prior experience, we can tell you some facts about us.
Fact one: the national average amount of driving lessons to pass is 57 hours. With us, the average number to pass is just 26.
Fact two: many of our learners in Ormskirk pass from scratch in just 10-15 hours.

Unfortunately, there is no driving test centre in Ormskirk itself. The nearest driving test centre to you is about 20 minutes away, which is the Southport (Liverpool) driving test centre in Southport. There are also two other driving test centres about 30 minutes' drive away: one in Norris Green in Liverpool and one in St Helens. Typically, in the first 10 hours or so of driving lessons, you would likely cover: basic car controls; moving off and stopping; clutch control; going up and down the gears; turning left from a major to minor road; turning right from a major to minor (which is always harder); Open T-Junctions; meeting other traffic and anticipating potential hazards. You might also cover hill starts and angled moving offs. This obviously all depends on how you learn, the pace you are comfortable with and your previous experience. You may go quickly through these or take things more slowly. Your experienced driving instructor will be able to guide you at a pace that works for you.
