Driver caught driving on cocaine whilst already banned

Banned Northwich driver caught driving on drugs

Katie Jade Reed, of Mornant Avenue, was already serving a driving ban when she was stopped by police at the start of this year.

Police caught the 32-year-old behind the wheel of her Peugeot 207 with twice the legal limit of cocaine in her system.

The cocaine was detected by officers with a positive drug swipe at the roadside. A blood sample confirmed the result.

Driving whilst banned is bad enough, but Reed went one step further by driving under the influence.

She appeared at Chester Magistrates Court on August 11, 2021, where she pleaded guilty to both charges.

Two months earlier, Reed had appeared in the same court pleading guilty to driving with no insurance.

Magistrates ordered Reed to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work with the probation services and was banned from driving for another 12 months. She must also pay the Crown Prosecution costs of £85 and a £95 surcharge to fund victim services.

It seems that Katie will need some driving lessons in Northwich.
